About Royal Palace of Turin

Built for the House of Savoy in the sixteenth- century, the Royal Palace of Turin is also known as the Palazzo Reale di Torino. The palace was modernised in the 17th century by Christine Marie from France, with the help of the architect Filippo Juvarra. Later on, in 1946, the Royal Palace of Turin was converted into a museum. Following the same, the palace was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites, in 1994.

Upon visiting this palace, you can witness several exquisite craftworks from the 17th century in the form of paintings, frescoes, furniture, and tapestries. The first floor of this Palace houses the royal apartments, ballroom, gallery, Royal Library, and the throne hall. You can also witness a self-portrait of the famous personality Leonardo Da Vinci in the Royal Library. The Palace is also home to the Royal Armoury, displaying one of the world’s largest collections of weapons.

  • Cafeteria: Situated in the old rooms of the Servizio Frutteria, the entrance of the cafe is from the Court of Honour of the Royal Palace. The cafeteria provides refreshing juice and some delicious snacks amidst a distinct setting. The timings of the cafeteria are from 9 am to 7 pm, from Tuesday to Sunday.

  • Museum Shop: This shop is located in the ticket office of the Royal museums, across the Court of Honours. The museum shop timings are similar to that of the Royal Palace of Turin timings, upto 7pm.

  • Lockers: Equipped with number keys, the lockers facility is a safe personal free storage option available at the Royal Palace of Turin.

  • Toilets and Changing Facilities: All the floors in the Royal Palace of Turin are equipped with toilet facilities. Those with wheelchairs can access washrooms in Sabauda Gallery, Museum of Antiquities, Royal Library, and Chiablese Hall.

  • Wifi: The Royal is not equipped with the wifi facility currently, however, it can be accessed in the reading room in Royal Library.
